Here’s the true story of how I accidently created this super powerful program now known as the
100 Rep Workout system.
I was out of town and thus not at my own gym. I was weary from traveling, tired, uninspired, pressed for time, and had not planned my workout for the day.
(Up until this point I would spend at least ten minutes each morning planning my hour long workout – that’s until I stumbled upon this new training style.)
I must admit I’m spoiled having my own gym, so while looking around the vastly overcrowded health club I thought to myself what the hell am I supposed to do here?
Then I saw it…
The good news is most big gyms have vacant and pristine squat racks. The squat racks stay that way because average gym goers (and when I say average I really mean below average) never go near them.
And on this day the squat rack was free and available so right then and there I decided I was training legs – and that’s that.
Having a squat rack to myself was good news, but I was still uninspired (or was I?) because my next thought was “F it, I’ll just knockout 100 reps of squats and lunges and get the hell out of here.
The genesis of what has become the “100 Rep Workout” slipped by me unnoticed. At least for the next 15 minutes or so.
I loaded the bar with 25’s 10’s and 5’s. I don’t remember the total weight. I knocked out about 8 reps, racked the bar, stripped some weight off then squatted out 6 or 8 more reps. I kept on in this fashion unit I had finished all 100 reps.
It sounded so easy.
I wanted to puke and die, and maybe not in that order. My legs were screaming at me, and my lungs were on fire. I was dripping with sweat and my heart was most certainly pounding.
Yeah, it was awesome!
As I crawled back to my rental car it came to me. I could create a whole system on doing workouts based on 100 reps. It was so simple and yet so elegant. It did not have to be bound by conventional training methodology.
It could be a system for whole body training or even single body part (although I prefer the former). The 100 Rep Workout could be as flexible as I wanted it to be.
You could do it anywhere – at home with no equipment, in a gym, or even in a hotel room when you travel.
You can really challenge yourself by adding a set of five or ten pounds dumbbells to the routine and when you’re ready to take it to the next level you can bump it up to 200 and even 300 reps per workout and still keep the entire thing well under 20 minutes per workout.
I had unwittingly created a monster…a workout system so intense, so effective and so complete that you would see almost instant results in just a couple of weeks and you’d never lose motivation again.
In fact that’s exactly why so many people stop working out and quit going to health clubs in the first place.
Big gym workouts take way too much time, the results come slow and after awhile your body adjusts to the workout and you stop seeing results all together. And at that point most people quit.

Hold on… I’m getting a head of myself. First, let me dispel the three biggest myths about losing fat and gaining muscle that most ‘expert’ don’t even know.
Myth # 1: You need to spend 45-60 minutes doing cardio to burn the most fat.
WRONG… sure you’ll be burning calories doing cardio on the treadmill or exercise bike but you’ll burn NOTHING and I mean NOTHING afterwards. You need a return on your investment – if you put the time into a workout you should get something back.
How does 36-48 hours of seriously elevated metabolism sound? Let me tell you all about it. “Steady state” cardio is dead! Leave cardio for the idiots who don’t know any better and want to waste their time at the local GloboGym.
Study after study and my time in the trenches proves that there are much more effective methods for burning fat in shorter (yet more INTENSE) periods of time.
See, your body is smarter than you think. It’s always looking for balance, homeostasis. The truth is your body hates change. So if you keep doing boring, steady state cardio over and over, before long your body will adapt and become efficient at using fewer calories while working out.
Time to give your body a slap.
What you want is to get maximum FAT BURN in minimum time and you certainly don’t want your body to adapt to your workout program. Myth # 2: You should lift weights for 4-5 days per week for at least 30 minutes per workout.
